My Hiding Place
“4One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. 5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. 6And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.” (Psalm 27:4-6)
It is important to train my mind to dwell upon the LORD and to behold His beauty. It is so important to see God in His word and to be filled with His beauty, to be filled with Himself, lest my mind be troubled and full of unrest when the evil days of darkness come, the days when clouds remain after the rain.
Filling my mind with the beauty of the LORD and the knowledge of His character will cause me to be able to offer up to God sacrifices of joy. It will bring singing to my lips because of my joyful heart. It will also bring answered prayer. If I have a heart that is right with God, He will hear my prayer, “7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8 When thou saidst , Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. 9Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.” (verses 7-9) God’s secret, safe place is a place to seek God’s face and have heart to heart communion with my LORD. It is a place to hide from the world and become full of the LORD, and place to rest and be secure in His bosom, a place to abide in God’s presence.
