Tonight’s thoughts about praying for the Corona Virus will focus on Hope for the Whole World. There is one thing that much of the world has in common right now – the Corona Virus. We are all facing the same problem. We are all in quarantine. We are all wondering about tomorrow, about next week. For many there is fear. What is the answer?
There may or may not be a solid answer for treating the Corona Virus. It can be slowed by being in quarantine and staying home and being careful, washing hands, not touching our face, and so on. But the spread cannot really be stopped. It will continue until it has run its course or until God, in His mercy, has stopped it.
There is hope though – hope for the whole world. There is a problem that has a cure and can be stopped. That problem is sin. Sin brings fear. It especially increases the fear of death. The cure for sin is the blood of Jesus. It was offered freely to make salvation available to all. This is a gift from God.
“For God so loved the world, that
he gave
his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
(John 3:16,17)
We may not all get a cure for Corona Virus, but we can all have hope of everlasting life. It is freely available to everyone because of the mercy of God. Let us thank the Lord for this gift and continue to pray that God will also show His mercy in slowing and stopping this virus and getting it all the way gone. He is the only hope. He is the hope for the whole world.
