Idols – Have ears but do not hear
God – “19But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. 20Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.” (Psalm 66:19,20)
Idols – Have noses but do not smell
God – When Noah offered of every clean beast and every clean fowl, “the LORD smelled a sweet savour.” (See Genesis 8:21)
Idols – Have hands but handle not
God – Holds us securely in His hand, “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.” (John 10:28,29)
Idols – Have feet but do not walk
God – “Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.” (Psalm 77:19)
Idols – May have throat but do not speak
God – “The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.” (Psalm 77:18) (Also, see Nahum 1:3)
Manmade idols have no power; but God is great and mighty and none is greater or stronger than He. Praise the Lord!
