Psalm 107:23-30 says, “23They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; 24These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. 25For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. 26They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. 27They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. 28Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. 29He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. 30Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.”
Some go to sea and there they see the works of the Lord and His wonders in the deep. There are many amazing things to see. Sometimes though, a storm arises that tosses the ship to and fro and makes them very frightened. At times there are physical storms, such as hurricanes and tornadoes which cause us to be frightened. Sometimes it is the storms of life that frighten us.
No matter the situation, we can cry to the Lord in our trouble and He will bring us out of our distresses. It is the Lord that will make the storm a calm and cause us to be quiet and at rest. We wait on the Lord to deliver us, send the calm and peace, and bring us to our desired haven, our place of refuge and safety.
“31Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 32Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.” (Psalm 107:31,32)
