Katy's Prayer

Recently my friend Katy shared this prayer.  A few weeks ago,
she had a baby, and therefore she is often up late at night.
She said that this is a prayer she prays when she is up late into the night.

“Help me find my way
As I face each new day.
Show me what to do,
To help lean me on You;
To trust in all You do;
Keep my face on You;
and know,
You will see me through.”

~Katy W.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you
.”
(Matthew 6:33)

Blossom as the Rose

                 “The desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 2It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. 3Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. 4Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with  vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you… 7And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water.” (Isaiah 35:1b-4 and 7a)

                According to the book Miracles Science Can’t Explain*, geological evidence shows that deserts were once fertile.  This was before God brought judgment on the earth in the form of a world-wide flood.

                One day the curse will be lifted, and the desert will be fertile once again. It will blossom like a rose, and the parched land and thirsty ground will be covered with springs of water.  The beauty of the desert will compare to that of Lebanon, Carmel, and Sharon.

                Even today Mt. Carmel is a place filled with stunning beauty.  When the curse is lifted, the dry, barren desert will be filled with the same excellency.  People will live in it, and it will rejoice with sounds of gladness and singing.

                Because of all these beautiful promises, we can take heart, be strong, and fear not.  God is coming back.  All that is hard and weary will be made perfect.  All that is marred will be made beautiful.

                Even so, Lord Jesus, come!

Touched with the Feeling of Our Infirmities

Touched with the Feeling of Our Infirmities

                “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.” (Hebrews 4:15a)

                This verse, this half of this verse, is full of rich truth.  Here we see that Jesus not only went through the same trials and temptations we do, but He was touched with the feeling of our infirmities.  An example of this would be His struggles in the garden of Gethsemane.

                As Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before His crucifixion, His heart was crushed.  The Bible says He “began to be sorrowful and very heavy.” He took Peter, James, and John with Him into the garden and desired that they would watch and pray with Him just “one hour.”  But they slept.

                Before He went to pray the first time, He said to His disciples, “My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death.”  Jesus’ soul was so crushed by His heaviness, that He felt as if it would kill Him.*  Luke 22:44 says, “Being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”  Jesus’ heart was heavy.  It was pained with sorrow.  These feelings of heaviness and sorrow were so great that Jesus was in agony.

                Twice Jesus besought His disciples to watch and pray with Him.  He longed for their companionship and support in His trial.  But they slept.  God sent an angel to strengthen Him.  (See Luke 22:43)

                Does your heart feel crushed today?  Does it feel so heavy it seems that the weight of your sorrow or trial will kill you?  Remember, Jesus was touched with the feeling of that infirmity.  His heart was crushed with sorrow; it was “exceeding sorrowful, even unto death.”  He knew what it was like to have no human companion who understood His sorrow.  But His Father understood it and sent an angel to strengthen Him.

                You do not have to wait for angels.  You have Jesus, your High Priest, who was touched with the feeling of your infirmity and is ready to go with you through that infirmity if you will come to Him.

                “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Matthew 11:28,29)

Lift Your Heart in Prayer to Jesus

3/2/2015

I wrote this hymn out in my notebook a few days ago as I looked through
my copy of Pentecostal Hymns.  The words were such a comfort.

Lift Your Heart in Prayer

1.  Lift your heart in prayer to Jesus,
He is full of truth and grace;
All of light and all of knowledge
Shineth ever in His face.

Chorus:
Lift your heart in prayer to Jesus,
He will lead you all the way;
Lift your heart in prayer to Jesus,
Without ceasing every day.

2.  Lift your heart in prayer to Jesus,
He can every need supply;
Tell Him all your cares and troubles,
None like Him can satisfy.

3.  Lift your heart in prayer to Jesus,
When you prosper in the way;
For the tempter seeks to snare you,
Though all seems as bright as day.

4.  Lift your heart in prayer to Jesus,
When in sorrow's darkest hour,
He will know just how to rest you,
Praise His name, He has the power.

~Words by G. Thabor Thompson
Can be sung to several tunes.  The ones I sung it to are
"Jesus What a Friend for Sinners" and
"Like a Lamb Who Needs the Shepherd"

"
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (I Peter 5:7)

    About the Author

    Hello!  My name is Connie, and I live in North Carolina.  The Lord has blessed me with wonderful parents, a wonderful sister, and a great church family .  The past two years have been difficult in many ways, but God has been with me all the way.

    Much praise goes to the Lord for His guidance and wisdom in starting this website.  I would also like to express my thanks to Valerie who has joyfully and willingly given of her time to help design this website and do much of the technical work.  She and her family are faithful servants to the Lord.  They also have gone through many trials in the past few years, but they have allowed God to use these trials to make them sweeter and more like His Son Jesus Christ.
