“Oh, how can I ever find my heart Lord.
You can show me I know.
I ask you to help me to find my heart. I can't find it,
Please can you help me find who I am, who I can be?
Oh, help me find who I am inside of me.
Will I find my part, how will I help? Show me, find me.
I look into the sky -- how old will I be when I go to that place --
10 or 50 or 123?????”
~by Katy W.'s six your old daughter
This is the song and heartfelt prayer of Katy W.’s daughter. Though still young, she is already wondering what place the Lord will have for her to fill and how she will be able to help. She is wondering when she will go to heaven. She knows that it could be while she is a child (perhaps just 10 years old), or it could be after she has reached the mature age of 123. Only God knows when. What place can she fill in the years between?
This song and heartfelt prayer bring the following verses to my mind:
“23Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23,24)
“When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” (Psalm 27:8)
“Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.” (Psalm 105:4)
“12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:12,13)
