Happy Independence Day! A day of thankfulness for the sacrifice of our founding fathers. A day of thankfulness for the men who were willing to pledge their lives, fortunes and sacred honor, and kept that pledge. Oh that God would raise up such men today to help our country! A day of thankfulness that we can, one more time, celebrate together the birth of our great country and the freedoms she represents. A day of thankfulness that God has had mercy on our country one more year. “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34) “It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (Lamentations 2:22,23) The Star Spangled Banner O say can you see by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there; O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalm 107:8) On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country, should leave us no more? Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. “It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (Lamentations 2:22,23) O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation. Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! ~Francis Scott Key “Happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” (Psalm 144:15b) Being a mother is a special blessing from God. Not every woman is able to be a mother. God gives the fruit of the womb as His special gift. (Psalm 127:3) But sometimes being a mother comes with great challenges. Do you feel like you are facing some of those challenges now? Do they seem a bit overwhelming sometimes? Click on the link to hear a very encouraging sermon about a mother who had The Toughest Job on Earth. The focus for this little meditation from Scripture is "worship." Luke 10:39, says, “And she [Martha] had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.” Below are some thoughts on two aspects of worship. Get Down Low Mary sat down at Jesus’ feet. She put herself in a position of humility. She got down low. “You must get down low to worship Jesus”* A proud heart cannot truly worship Jesus because it is actually worshiping self. If I get down low, I can see my Savior’s feet. They are pierced feet – pierced for me. My God, My Lord, King of all the universe allowed His feet to be pierced for me. If I get down low, I can see my Savior’s feet. They are bruised and bleeding – bruised and bleeding for me. The Great God, Creator of heaven and earth, came down to earth and allowed His feet to be bruised and broken for me. If I get down low, I can see my Savior’s feet. Perhaps my tears will fall upon those feet. Perhaps my hair can wipe away my tears from those feet as my heart returns His love which was so freely given yet at so great a cost. Jesus’ feet. Beautiful feet. Feet that were broken for me that I might be made whole. Feet that tell of the sorrow He bore for me that I might have joy. If I get down low, I can see my Savior’s feet. Hear His Word Luke 10:39 says that “Mary… heard his word.” Worship is not so much an act I do for God. Rather, it is sitting still in His presence so I can hear from Him. It is listening to what He has to say. As I look into Scripture and humble myself before Him, He can speak to me and show Himself to me. He can teach me how much He loves, and I can learn to trust and rest. Worship is a place of rest near to the heart of God. *Quote from a lady on “Building Blocks for the Family” program on BBN. I do not know her name. Here is something to make you smile. This is so cute! Today, on his son's CaringBridge page, Robert Murphy shared about the blessed message of Christ and how it is possible to have hope, comfort and peace, even in the midst of pain and sorrow. I pray this will be a blessing and encouragement to you.

~Words spoken by the mother in the book, First We Have Coffee by Margaret Jenson “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) In Isaiah 65:17, God says, “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” What a fascinating verse! One day God is going to create a new earth. When He does, we will not remember the old one at all. It will not even come into our minds that there used to be a different earth. Oh, how wonderful that will be! I have had many good experiences in life, but there are many things about life on this earth that I have no wish to remember. Revelation 21:4 says that one day, “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” All the things that we are afraid of on this earth, all the death and sorrow and pain, all will be gone. They will be passed away. We will not even remember them anymore. God Himself will be with us, and He will be our God, and He will make all things new; for He is “Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.” (See verse 6) |

Hello! My name is Connie, and I live in North Carolina. The Lord has blessed me with wonderful parents, a wonderful sister, and a great church family . The past few years have been difficult in many ways, but God has been with me all the way. Much praise goes to the Lord for His guidance and wisdom in starting this website. I would also like to express my thanks to Valerie who has joyfully and willingly given of her time to help design this website and do much of the technical work. She and her family are faithful servants to the Lord. They also have gone through many trials in the past few years, but they have allowed God to use these trials to make them sweeter and more like His Son Jesus Christ. Rights:
