1. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
This Psalm gives so many wonderful and comforting promises about my (our) God. Also, it tells three specific things my (our) God does (or is) for us.
I. My Helper
My help comes from the LORD. How is He qualified to help me? God has all power. He created the heavens and the earth. Sure He can help me!
II. My Keeper
The LORD keeps me on the right path and does not suffer (allow) my foot to slip or move out of the path.
The LORD keeps a constant watch on me. He does not sleep or slumber.
The LORD provides shelter -- shade from the sun and moon. He protects both day and night.
III. My Preserver
The LORD preserves me from all evil. He preserves my soul. The LORD preserves me whether I go out or come in. He is constantly present and protecting, now and for evermore.
