Over the past few days, the Lord has really encouraged my heart with these verses:
"17But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid. 18For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD." (Jeremiah 39:17,18) God promised to deliver Ebedmelech, the Ethiopian, because he trusted in the Lord.
Psalm 34:7,8 says, "7The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."
Psalm 36:5-9 says, "5Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. 6Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. 7How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. 8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. 9For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light."
In Exodus chapter one, we can read the story of the midwives who refused to obey Pharaoh and kill the Hebrew babies. Verses 17,20, and 21 tell how God helped and blessed these midwives. "17But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive... 20Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. 21And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses."
In Psalm 37:3, the Bible says, "Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed."
And one more portion. I can sleep peacefully at night because I have the assurance that God cares for me. Though I cannot stay awake all night, my God never sleeps or slumbers, and He will preserve me.
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. 3He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." (Psalm 121)
