I'm sorry to have gone so long without posting. Was dealing with some technical issues regarding the blog. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing great and trusting in the Lord.

“Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.” (Genesis 25:14) Esau despised his birthright. He scorned it; treated it as something contemptible. We, as believers, also have a birthright. We have a right to eat at the altar whereof the priests and Levites had no right. “We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.” (Hebrews 13:10) The priests and Levites served in a sanctuary where the blood of animals was sprinkled upon the altar. We partake of the altar where the blood of Christ was shed for our sins. We have a right to partake of the body and blood of the perfect Lamb. In heaven, we will also have the right to partake of the tree of life. This privilege, which Adam and Even enjoyed in the garden of Eden, was taken away when they sinned. “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” (Revelation 22:14) As children born of God, we enjoy many other privileges. We may come boldly before God’s throne to petition Him for our needs. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16) Our names are written in heaven, in the Lamb’s Book of Life. “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20) We have a right to enter the kingdom of God. “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5) We will receive an inheritance. “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.” (Ephesians 1:11) This barely touches the many privileges and rights that we may enjoy because of the new birth. Lord, may I never despise this wonderful birthright. ~J. L. T. Y. “7) And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years. 8) Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.” (Genesis 25:7,8) “And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.” (Genesis 25:11) Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born. Isaac grew under the influence of a godly father, a father who was the friend of God, a father who believed God and was obedient to Him. We don’t know the age of the lad when Abraham was asked to offer this son of promise to God. But we do know that Abraham was 140 when Isaac married Rebekah. (Genesis 25:20) He was 160 when Jacob and Esau were born. (Genesis 25:26) And he was 175 when he died so was able to have a godly influence on his grandchildren too. (Genesis 25:7) Isaac had seventy-five years to observe the faith of his father. He saw that his father’s faith was steadfast and true. Therefore, even after his father’s death, Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi, that is the “well of the living God.” Jacob remained close to the living God. He had lived close to his father Abraham and seen his father’s faith and walked in his father’s footsteps. He had learned to dwell close to the living God, and he would continue to do so now that his father had passed on. May the Lord give us fathers that will live a consistent life of faith and trust before their children. |
About the Author
Hello! My name is Connie, and I live in North Carolina. The Lord has blessed me with wonderful parents, a wonderful sister, and a great church family . The past few years have been difficult in many ways, but God has been with me all the way. Much praise goes to the Lord for His guidance and wisdom in starting this website. I would also like to express my thanks to Valerie who has joyfully and willingly given of her time to help design this website and do much of the technical work. She and her family are faithful servants to the Lord. They also have gone through many trials in the past few years, but they have allowed God to use these trials to make them sweeter and more like His Son Jesus Christ. Rights:
