Why? Why such great praise to the LORD? Because of His works. What are the LORD’s works like? The Psalm goes on to say, “2The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. 3His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.” (verses 2 and 3) The LORD’s works are great, honourable, and glorious. They display His righteousness, which will endure forever. Those who love the LORD have pleasure in these works and seek them out.
God makes His works to be remembered because they reveal His character, “He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.” (verse 4) God is gracious and full of compassion. Therefore, He wants His works to be remembered. He is worthy of praise, praise in the assembly with other believers, praise in the congregation of those who have met to worship Him. Praise to You, O LORD, for Your great, honourable, and glorious works!
