In Psalm 145:14-17, the Bible talks about how the Lord cares for all – both man and beast. God looks upon the things that He has created and provides for their needs.
God upholds the weak.
Psalm 145:14 says, “The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.” Consider these verses in Psalm 37, “23) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24) Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” (verses 23, and 24) Those who walk in the way that the Lord directs are upheld by the Lord. They may fall, but the Lord keeps them from going out of the way. He upholds them with His hand. If we are walking in the way that God has ordered for us, we have this assurance from Him, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)
God Provides for All Creatures – Man and Beast and Creeping Things.
Psalm 145:15,16 says, “15) The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. 16) Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.” God does not overlook one living thing. Of the sparrow, He says, “Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?” (Luke 12:7a) Regarding the ants, “6) Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7) Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8) Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.” (Proverbs 6:6-8) Of the spider, God says, “The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.” (Proverbs 30:28) God provides homes for the spiders, sometimes in the palace of a king. If God cares so much for sparrows, ants, spiders and other such creatures, we can be assured that God cares for us. God has not forgotten even one sparrow, and He says, “Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:7b) God has created you, and you are of great value to God.
Psalm 145:17 says, “The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.” Remember that Isaiah 41:10 says that God upholds us with His righteous hand. Psalm 37:24 also says that God upholds us with His hand. God’s hand is mighty to save, and God does mighty things to provide for us and to preserve us. Psalm 89 explains this with these wonderful words, “13) Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand. 14) Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. 15) Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. 16) In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. 17) For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. 18) For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.” (verses 13-18)
This righteous LORD who upholds us by His righteous hand is holy in all His works. Everything He does is right. There is no wrong or sin in Him. Everything He does is clean and sacred, separated from profane and common use. It is whole and sound and of unimpaired innocence and virtue, pure and irreproachable.* Therefore, God is worthy of our praise and worship, “3) Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy… 5) Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy… 9) Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.” (Psalm 99:3,5,9)
