“And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” Genesis 2:8
“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” Genesis 2:15
God planted the garden. The garden belonged to God. God put the man in the garden. The man belonged to God. God had formed him. The Hebrew word “formed” means “to squeeze something into shape; to form, as a potter; earthen.” God had given him life and breath. God took the man and put him in the garden. He had a right to do with the man as He pleased. God had a purpose for putting the man in the garden. He wanted the man to work. He wanted the man to keep and dress the garden. He did not want the man to be idle. God wanted the man to enjoy working in the garden and to enjoy the fruit of the garden. God is good, and all that He does is good. He gave man only that which was good for him, including work.
