What Rewards?
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Revelation 1:3 God’s blessing is promised to those who read, hear, and keep the words of this prophecy. We must be doers of the word and not hearers only if we are to receive God’s blessing.
“5Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1:5b,6 What wonderful verses! I’m so thankful that Jesus loved me and that He washed me from my sins in His own blood. What more could I ask for? Yet He gave more. He made us kings and priests unto God. We are a royal priesthood. We are engaged in the holy service of God. Glory (honor, praise, adoration) and dominion (supreme authority to govern and control; the right of possession and use without accountability) are His for ever and ever. Amen!
What rewards does God give to those who overcome, to those who win the victory?
1. The right to eat of the tree of life
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.” Revelation 2:7
2. Protection from being hurt by the second death
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” Revelation 2:11
3. The right to eat of the hidden manna
4. A white stone with a new name written therein
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.” Revelation 2:17 I wonder what the hidden manna refers to.
5. Power over the nations
6. The morning star
“26And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 28And I will give him the morning star. 29He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Revelation 2:26-29 I wonder what this morning star refers to.
7. White raiment
8. His/her name will not be blotted out of the book of life
9. His/her name will be confessed by Jesus before the Father and before the angels
“5He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. 6He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Revelation 3:5,6
10. Jesus will make him/her a pillar in the temple of His God
(Jesus shows reverence to the Father)
11. Jesus will write upon him/her the name of His God and the name of the city of His God
(Again, Jesus shows reverence to the Father)
“12Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. 13He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Revelation 3:12,13
12. The right to sit with Jesus in His throne
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” Revelation 3:21
